Advanced Resident Temporal Bone Dissection Course

This course is designed for advanced otolaryngology trainees interested in refining their skills in the treatment of patients with hearing loss and chronic otitis media.

The international faculty will present updated information and “hands−on” instruction pertaining to surgical techniques used in the management of hearing loss and chronic otitis media.

This will include innovations in ossicular chain reconstruction, cochlear implantation, mastoid surgery, Meniere’s management, stapedectomy techniques, and facial nerve management in chronic ear surgery.

The course will consist of didactic lectures, video sessions, and hands−on temporal bone dissections.

Course Objectives
At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
• Complete an intratemporal facial nerve dissection
• Reconstruct the ossicular chain using conventional PORPs, and TORPs, as well as, vibroplasty techniques
• Discuss various options for stapedectomy
• Perform intact canal wall mastoidectomy, canal wall down mastoidectomy and labyrinthectomy
